St. Paul's Sunday School

St. Paul’s Sunday School welcomes all children and meets during the 11 o’clock worship service.  We join the congregation and during “Time for All Ages”, the minister shares a story, our offering is presented and we share a prayer.  After this time, we go to our classes.  We have a class for those 3 - 6 years old, grades 2 - 8, and high school age students.

We encourage our youth to respect others and the environment, to help those less fortunate and to grow in their faith.

We are proud of our youth who take part in Children at Conference and Youth Forum.  It’s a great opportunity to make friends with other United Church youth across Ontario.

The youth take part in outreach programs by helping pack items in the “homeless kits” for the Salvation Army, taking part in the “Manger Project” during Advent and making donations of food to Outreach for Hunger and funds to help purchase bed kits for Sleeping Children Around the World.  Our senior class helped pack food hampers for The Goodfellows the past few Decembers.
The youth are also encouraged to take part in the church service by reading Scripture, playing the piano, bagpipes or singing.  Our congregation always enjoys having the youth share their talents.

We also like to spend some fun times together such as bowling, swimming, visiting the Corn Maize and at a good old-fashioned picnic.

2013 Events

Corn Maze, September 22, 2013

Thank you for all the food that was brought for the fellowship table on Sunday.  There were many compliments and thanks for the wide assortment of food to choose from.  Thanks also to our group of young people who sliced, set up and served the food and drinks. Special thanks to Harry and Linda for offering to finish the cleanup so we could travel on to the corn maze.

Twenty-three people entered the maze and all found their way back out!  We had two groups of young people who completed both phases in a record time of 29 minutes.  The parent group did not fare so well and were the last group to find their way out!  I guess they "got lost"!

2012 Events and Before

Operation Red-Nose/Home James 2012

The St. Paul's Sunday School Parents first volunteered their time in the 2011 Operation Red-Nose Campaign and were recipients of some of the funds that were raised along with a few other  non-profit organizations. Our members devoted a lot of free time to this cause, which is to get people home safely and responsibly.  We may have been tired after our nights out, but we had a lot of laughs and feel we helped make a  difference!  We did not apply to be recipients of funds this year, but chose to  pay it forward and some of us were able to once again take part in the "Home  James" program that now runs in place of Operation Red-Nose.  Thanks go to all the parents who were able to participate in 2011 and 2012 and to Jenn for helping us get organized!!!
