Dunwich United Church in Dutton.
Theme: ‘WHERE THERE IS FAITH, THERE IS HOPE’
We were welcomed by our Region’s President, Marilyn Mitchell, to come in and visit with our neighbour as we enjoyed a coffee and muffins and then move on to a wonderful lively sing song led by Anne Griffin.
A welcome, the Land Acknowledgement, our UCW Purpose, greetings from the National UCW and ARW UCW presidents, and the president of Dunwich United Church started the Gathering.
The Annual Report of the past year was prepared by Secretary Heddys Stevenson. After discussion the report was approved. The treasurer’s report, as prepared by Linda Britton, was discussed and approved. These women deserve many thanks for all of their tireless work.
Laurel Kenney (Social Justice) gave a report about our National UCW project. It is for five years and entitled “The Healing Fund”. Monies raised are to benefit Indigenous women and families. It was drawn to our attention the great need for clean water for everyday living. Even people in our own area, the Oneida Nation of the Thames, don’t have the pipe line completed to bring them clean water.
Rev. Larry Schneider lead us in worship. Because of a car accident, he had to learn to walk, talk and live, again. Life doesn’t always happen as we expect but, through FAITH & HOPE and Perseverance, we can make the best of our circumstances. Rev. Larry also lead us in Communion assisted by the UCW women. It was agreed to give the day’s offering to Mission & Service of the United Church of Canada.
A delicious lunch was served by the Dunwich Church Women. The ladies were given a chance to visit and shop in the Resource Room staffed by Mary Dillon, resource person from Riverview United London. She had a great display of books, cards and other religious materials. Supplies for your church can be ordered through her.
The group began the afternoon with singing followed by the entertainment of the Highly Strung Country Ukes. They were very lively and enthusiastic. We joined in with lots of singing and clapping and laughter.
The afternoon presenter was Diaconal Minister Jennifer Prince who gave her interpretation of FAITH and HOPE. She understood that we all had worries and concerns which she quickly wrote down as suggested by the group. Then, when she asked what we accomplished, we found that the surprising FAITH part is that UCW is already working, doing, and caring in many ways to help make lives better!! We do much service in LOVE. Remember, we HOPE and PRAY…. to Do What We Can …. and Leave the Rest to GOD!
The 2025 Executive was installed by Kathy Douglas, ARW Region UCW & Faith Adviser. Your Prayers and Support for their leadership are appreciated.
Mary Dillon invited everyone to the Summer Event in July in London (watch for details)
President Marilyn thanked everyone for coming and taking an active part in the 61st Gathering. The 2025 Annual Gathering will be April 26, 2025 (place to be announced)
President Marilyn’s Share:
God’s message for each of us: to share our faith with family and friends and with those we meet by chance; to review our life’s direction and relationships; to venture out into fresh areas of faith and service; to find ways of working with others with the compassion and dedication of Jesus; and, to respond to God‘s call. Each one of us is called to work out God‘s purpose, prayerfully, peacefully and practically. We are United Church Women!

Summer Event - Saturday, July 20, 2013
As always, this was a fun day. The air-conditioned church was very comfortable in the heat wave that we were having. The theme was Recognizing God's Nudge. As guest speaker, Rev. Matthew Stevens gave a new/old interpretation of the story of Adam and Eve and generously brought UBS keys so that the power point presentation could be shared with others. The entertainment, In a Heartbeat, was quite a fun surprise as these talented women showcased many unexpected talents. Then Susan McCarroll, an interior designer, gave us practical hints on giving our homes a fresh look.
50th Anniversary Morogoro Project
